Mission & Focus
The primary goal of the LaGrange Rotary Club’s Charitable Giving Program is to improve the quality of people’s lives by providing direct financial support to organizations that deliver effective programs to meet the needs of the International Rotary and Oldham County communities. The Club will consider funding requests for the following areas which incorporate Rotary International’s six avenues of service.
Education -The LaGrange Rotary Club has a long history of supporting educational programs in the local community by funding scholarships, awards programs, teams and clubs. Avenue of Service: Supporting Education.
Human Services-The Club is committed to supporting organizations worldwide that provide social, family, health, youth development, and crisis relief services. Avenue of Service: Fighting Disease, Providing clean water, Saving mothers and children
Arts, Culture & Community Development -The Club supports libraries, historical societies, the arts, housing and neighborhood development, and community foundations in the local community. Avenue of Service: Supporting education.
Religion -The Club provides resources and support of religious activities, such as youth camps, ministerial associations, and councils in the local community. Avenue of Service: Promoting peace
The LaGrange Rotary Club considers local funding requests from organizations that:
- Deliver services in Oldham County
- have missions that are consistent with the club’s area of focus,
- deliver effective programs with measurable outcomes in response to community needs, and
- have clearly defined goals and objectives with strong leadership.
Priority consideration shall be given to organizations that directly involve members of the LaGrange Rotary Club in a voluntary work capacity.
If relevant, the Club may also consider an organization’s years of operating history, financial stability, public relations value, and number of persons impacted. These guidelines and funding considerations act as tools to help the Club make funding decisions but does not prevent it from providing direct financial support to any organization.
Organizations that are tax-exempt under IRS Code Section 501©(3) are preferred but the designation is not a requirement. Funding will not be provided to individuals. Grants to Chambers of Commerce, Merchant Associations, or Economic Development Organizations for specific projects or programs may be considered but general donations are discouraged. Grants to organizations that receive primary funding from United Way for specific projects or programs may be considered but general donations are discouraged, Applications will not be considered from organizations that unfairly discriminate against race, ethnic origin, gender, religious affiliation, creed, age, or national origin. In addition, funds will not be provided for advertising to honor or benefit an individual or organization, direct or indirect loans to individuals or organizations, or for political, legislative or lobbying efforts.
Applicants should submit the following to the LaGrange Rotary Club’s Charitable Contributions Committee: LaGrange Rotary Club, ATI: Charitable Contributions Committee, P.O. Box 162, La Grange, KY 40031-0162. Applications may also be emailed to the Committee Chairperson listed on the Lagrange Rotary Club website. 1. Completed Application 2. If applicable, evidence of Tax ID Number and Tax-Exempt Status (if incorporated as a not-for-profit 501 (c) (3) organization. 3. Current financial statement and/or statement of anticipated expenses and available funds at the time of application.
Quarterly Review Calendar
Applicants will be notified of the Club’s funding decision by email shortly after the meeting of the Board of Directors.
If an application is denied, it will not be held over for future reconsideration. A new application must be submitted.
Applicants should submit their material in plenty of time for the application to be reviewed on a quarterly schedule.
Approval may take 2-3 months.
